Effects of Poor Nutrition
Are you feeling tired, lethargic or just plain lousy all the time? It may be due to your diet. Poor nutrition can make you feel lousy on a day-to-day basis. Or, you may know you eat a bad diet and still feel fine- but did you know that bad nutrition at this age can affect you in later life?
As a young adult, poor nutrition can have an affect on your potential growth and development, and it can also increase your risk of developing serious diseases later on in life. A bad diet greatly increases your risk of conditions such as
- type 2 diabetes
- heart disease
- high blood pressure
- high cholesterol
- obesity
- osteoporosis
- cancer
All the above diseases can be life-threatening, and can be lifestyle related. Although serious, the good news is that lifestyle modifications such as improving your diet can greatly lower your risk of developing such diseases!
You might think this is not an important issue to you now as a young adult, because these diseases tend to occur later on in life. But remember, poor nutrition at this age still increases your risk. And the eating habits and food choices you make now as independent individuals tend to stick with you for life- so make the right ones!
